Abstract: Adsorption isotherms of aq. solns. of methylene blue at 5200 A. wave length and of basic fuchsin at 5450 A. were detd. with the 'Zeiss' spectrophotometer at 20° for Slovak active earths from Kuzmice, Borova hora, Fintice, Nizny Hrabovec, and Trnava at Laborec. They were compared with standard bleaching earths 'Tonsil AC,' 'NZ,' and 'Istenmez.ovrddot.o.' The earths with high adsorption abilities show a sudden increase at low values of dye concns. The adsorption ability of the earths in an unactivated state from Kuzmice, Fintice, Nizny Hrabovec, and Borov´a hora is equal to that of acid-activated earth from Istemez.ovrddot.o. The earth from Trnava at Laborec has a very small adsorption ability.
