The molecular structure of glycine and DL-alanine

Abstract: The osmometric measurements, especially the indication of an anomalous hydrochloride, show that both glycine and DL-alanine do not have the form of the dipolar ion but the form of strong polar hydrogens of the amino group. These measurements agree with spectroscopic ones but differ in their explanations. The crystal structure is discussed.
