Isothiocyanates. XXXVIII. Ultraviolet spectra of isothiocyanatobenzoxazoles and isothiocyanatobenzothiazoles

Abstract:  Characteristic ultraviolet spectral data of benzothiazolyl and benzoxazolyl isothiocyanates are presented. The possibilHy of ascribing the absorption bands to certain electron transitions of the studied systems and the interaction of the — NCS group with the mentioned systems are discussed. The effect of solvents and pH of the medium on the nature of the u.v. spectra of these systems is also studied.
