Abstract: The Cu(II) chelate of 2-(5,5-dimethyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzthiazolyl-2-azo)-4-ethylphenol was studied by spectrophotometry. The molar absorptivity of the chelate and the equil. const. for the chelation reaction were obtained by calcn. and graphical anal. based on data extd. from the curve A = f(pH). The possibilities of using the reagent as a metallochromic indicator in the detn. of Cu(II) or as a spectrophotometric reagent for Cu(II) were verified.
