Preparation and spectral properties of the derivatives of 3-N-arylamino-2-cyanopropenoic acid

Abstract: Synthesis of ethyl esters and nitriles of 3-aryI amino-2-cyanopropenoic acid has been described. Different reactivities of the amines used required four modifications of the reaction conditions for the preparation of the substitution products. The structures of the newly synthesized derivatives are discussed on the basis of infrared, ultraviolet, and ¹H NMR spectra.
