Yield of starch from the corn kernel

Abstract: The technol. yield of starch and analytically detd. amt. of starch from the corn kernel usually are not identical. The polarimetric method of Ewers (cf. Vilikovsk´y and D´yr, Kontrola v´yroby a v´yrobku v z´avodech zem̌edelsko-prumyslov´ych, Prague, 1950, 129-30) and the modified groove method of Watson, et al. (Cereal Chem. 28, 105(1951)) were compared, and it was detd. that the latter method is closer to the actual technol. yields of starch from the corn.
