Polarographic determination of substituted phenyl methyl ketones

Abstract: By the action of Ac_2O on ephedrine at the boiling temp., m-acetyl-O,N-diacetylephedrine, and by the action of acetanilide, a mixt. of acetylated 2-aminoacetophenone and 4-aminoacctophenone are formed. The position of the acetyl group in the benzene ring of these derivs. was detd. by the identification of oxidation products (ephedrine deriv.) and by detg. the m.p. of oximes (acetanilide deriv.).
