The evaluation of the systems (solvent-precipitant) for the fractionation of polyvinyl chloride according to the molecular weight

Abstract: The systems of tetrahydrofuran-water and cyclohexanone-ethylene glycol were found to be satisfactory for the fractionation of polyvinyl chloride. Not satisfactory were the systems of tetrahydrofuran and cyclohexanone as solvents and the alcs. as precipitants. The anomaly, shown in these systems, prevented the fractionation according to the mol. wt., can be explained as a result of the assocn. of the polymer before the sepn. of the phases.
