Effect of conditions of steeping on yield of corn starch

Abstract: cf. C.A. 53, 16568g. In the lab. the effect of 45, 50, and 55° temp., SO2 concn. 0.00, 0.15, 0.20, and 0.25%, and time of steeping 45, 50, and 55 hrs. on yield and quality of corn starch was studied. Even at higher SO2 concn. (0.25%) in steep waters and at 45-55° the quality of starch was affected very little.
