The components of various types of honeybee venoms

Abstract: By a method of high-voltage electrophoresis on paper with a pyridine-acetate buffer at pH 4.8 and by a quant. photometric evaluation of electrophoretograms, the compn. of 18 honeybee venoms, varying in the location and time of collection and the method of isolation, was described. In addn. to protein components and histamine, the presence of cathodic- and anodic-migrating peptidic components, 3 Pauly-pos. cathodic-migrating components, and an anodic-migrating component contg. phosphate were detd. There were considerable variations in the quant. evaluation of most of the components and in the presence of the Pauly-pos. components. The amt. of histamine in the individual honeybee venoms varied from 0.64 to 1.57 mg. %.
