Physicochemical analyses of some systems important in aluminum production. VIII. The density of melts of the system Na3AlF6-Al2O3-NaCl

Abstract: cf. CA 57, 13220d. A diagram of the dependence of the d. of melts of the system Na3AlF6Al2O3-NaCl on the compn. at 1000° was constructed. In the system Na3AlF6-Al2O3 the d. of the melt decreases with increasing concn. of Al2O3. The addn. of NaCl to melts of the system Na3AlF6-Al2O3 decreases the d. This decrease is caused by the entrance of Cl- of relatively high radius into the melt and by decreasing the temp. of primary crystn. of melts of the system Na3AlF6-Al2O3-NaCl at increasing concn. of NaCl.
