Physicochemical analyses of some systems important in the production of aluminum. IX. Electric conductivity of cryolite and Na3AlF6-Al2O3 and Na3AlF6-NaCl

Abstract: cf. CA 57, 13220d; 59, 14888d. The sp. elec. cond. of cryolite and of Na3AlF6-Al2O3 and Na3AlF6-NaCl was measured in a specially constructed oven. One detn. took 30 sec. For measurements, an a.c. of 5kc./sec. and 0.1 amp. was applied with a max. error ±1%. The sp. cond. of Na3AlF6-Al2O3 decreases with the increasing concn. of Al2O3 and the addn. of NaCl increases the sp. cond. of Na3AlF6-NaCl, which is more pronounced in the area of lower concns.
