pH chromatography of antibiotics. VI. Separation of natural penicillins in the mixtures

Abstract: cf. CA 58, 5453c. The use of pH chromatography for isolation and sepn. of natural penicillins in a mixt. of Penicillium chrysogenum is described. Five different penicillins were sepd. on Whatman no. 1 paper and impregnated with McIlvain's buffer solns. of pH 5.0-8.0. The optimum sepn. occurred at pH 6.0. From the position of the Rf curves, it is possible to det. the optimum pH for the sepn.
