Circular potentiometric method for the investigation of the kinetics of poly(vinyl chloride) dehydrochlorination. II. Dehydrochlorination of poly(vinyl chloride)

Abstract: Kinetics of dehydrochlorination of I with the circular potentiometric method at 175° in N and O were described. The conversion was 1.0% in N and 3.0% in O. With 0.06 g. I, 1 μmol. HCl can be detd. with a sufficient accuracy. The deviation in the results is ±2% and the reproducibility of the results is very good. In O, an increase in the rate of dehydrochlorination is very pronounced after 120 min. The initial rate of dehydrochlorination in O is twice as high as that in N, which differs from the results of Talamini and Pezzin (CA 55, 83μ) who reported the same rate in N as in O.
