Abstract: The reaction mixt. consisted of oxidized polypropylene (I), FeSO4 soln., triethylenetetramine, styrene, and Mersol-H or Na myristate emulsifier. For the optimum yield of graft polymer, a low concn. of emulsifier was necessary, indicating that the emulsifier acted like a detergent by wetting the hydrophobic surface of I. Increased emulsifier content then started to block the I surface. The decompn. of the peroxides of I occurred only in the presence of styrene.
