Fluorine determination in food and feed with the aid of the zirconium-SPADNA[2-(4-sulfophenylazo)-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-naphthalene disulfonic acid] system after diffusion separation from perchloric acid

Abstract:  In the present paper, a method for determination of fluorine in food-stuffs is described. Fluorine is separated by diffusion from 25% perchloric acid containing silver sulfate without previous ashing of the samples. After separation, fluorine is determined by an indirect photometric method, based on the decolouration of zirconium —SPADNS complex in the presence of perchloric and hydrochloric acids.
