New complexons. XXIX. Potentiometric investigation of the chelate-forming properties of N,N-bis(carboxymethyl)-2-aminoalkane acids

Abstract: The chelate-forming properties of DL-alanine-N,N-diacetic acid, DL-α-aminobutyric-N,N-diacetic acid, DL-norvaline-N,N-diacetic acid, and DL-valine-N,N-diacetic acid were studied by detg. the dissocn. and stability consts. of their chelates with Mg(II), Ca(II), Sr(II), and Ba(II) from potentiometric neutralization curves, and the stability consts. of their chelates with Cd(II), Zn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Pb(II), and Cu(II) by measuring the exchange equil. with 2,2',2''-triaminotriethylamine. The stabilities of all chelates decreased in the order Cu > Pb > Ni > Co > Zn > Cd > Ca > Mg > Sr > Ba.
