Abstract: Acid-base and chelate-forming properties of rac-2,4-diaminopentane-N,N,N',N'tetraacetic acid (APTA) were studied by potentiometric and polarog. methods, and by paper electrophoresis. The equil. consts of APTA were correlated with those of 1,3-diaminopropanetetraacetic acid, as s a model complexon, and EDTA. A selectivity of the sexadentate ligand towards certain ions (Mg, Zn, Co, Cu) was obsd., which offers a possibility of using this property in anal. chem.
