Abstract:  The formation of different molecules in plasma influences considerably the atomization, as well as the ionization and so the spectral line intensity depends on the mole ratio of components present in the sample. The fluorination of calcium and barium compounds in the D.C. arc is manifested in different ways. In the case of calcium compounds the CaF2 is formed first and subsequently decomposed into CaF, whereas the BaF molecules are formed from barium compounds directly.
