Enones derived from 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde

Abstract:  Fifteen new enones were prepared by basically catalyzed condensation of 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde or 4-dimethylamino-3-nitrobenzaldehyde with corresponding acetophenones or with other methyl ketones. Their characteri­zation by means of elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry is presented. Quaternization of 4-dimethylamino group of one chalcone is also given.
