The rate of acid-catalyzed solvolysis and tuberculostatic activity of thioamides

Abstract: The dependence of rate  constant of acid-catalyzed solvolytic reaction of thioamides on concentration of the acid as well as the entropy of activation and pos. value of the ϱ constant in the Hammett equation has confirmed in accordance with literature the suggested SN2 mechanism of this reaction for the whole investigated groups of substances. The uniformity of reaction mechanism made possible a correlation of the determined rate constants with microbial activity  of these substances.
