Wave-numbers of c=o stretching vibrations of exo-7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboximide derivatives

Abstract:  The wavenumbers of symmetric and antisymmetric C=0 stretching vibrations were measured for 46 derivatives of exo-7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboximide in dilute solutions of tetrachloromethane and trichloromethane. A statistically significant correlation has been found between the wavenumbers of symmetric and antisymmetric C= 0 stretching vibrations    in the series of 87 experimental points obtained for values measured in both solvents. The relation between the slope of c,s(C= 0) vs. i.;as(C= 0) dependence and the structure of investigated compounds is discussed and compared with those for other five-membered cyclic imides and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds.
