Study of the complex-forming equilibria of Zn(II), Mg(II), and Ca(II) cations with N-(Methylphosphonic)iminodiacetic and Glycine-N,N-bis(methylphosphonic) acids by the cation-exchange method

Abstract:  The influence of experimental conditions (pH, cation concentration, ionic strength) on the determination of stability constants by the cation-exchange method has been investigated. By way of example of the Mg(II), Ca(II), and Zn(n) complexes of the N-(methylphosphonic)iminodiacetic (MPIDA) and glycine-N,N-bis(methylphosphonic) (GDP) acids it has been found that by keeping optimal conditions the results obtained by means of this relatively simple and quick method are sufficiently accurate for the analytical practice and may serve as underlying data for the calculation of necessary conditions for separation of canonic mixtures.
