Determination of the enthalpy of crystallization of ternary eutectic melt in the system 2CaO.Al2O3.SIO2 CaO.Al2O3..2SiO2-CaO.SiO2

Abstract: Using a precursor method the ternary eutectic melt of the system 2CaO.Al2O3.SIO2 CaO.Al2O3..2SiO2-CaO.SiO2  (composition 38.0 mass % CaO, 20.1 mass % Al2O3, 41.9 mass % Si02) and wollastonite (CaO • Si02) were prepared. Besides wollastonite, gehlenite (2CaO•Al2O3• Si02) and anorthite (CaO•Al2O3•2Si02) crystallize from the eutectic melt at equilibrium temperature of 1538 K.
