Electrodeposition of Molybdenum from Molten Salts

Abstract: Electrolytic preparation of molybdenum coatings has been investigated in molten NaCl-KCl, KF, and KF-B2O3 electrolytes containing Na2MoO4 as the electrochemically active component. Molybdenum can be successfully electrodeposited from the molten mixture KF-B2O3-Na2MoO4 in the form of coherent layers on different electrically conductive substrates. The thickness of the layer depends on the temperature and current density used for deposition.
