Reaction of 2,3:5,6-Di-0-isopropylidene-D-mannose Oxime with Some Dehydrating Agents

Abstract: Reaction of 2,3:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-D-mannose oxime with some dehydrating agents (acetic anhydride, phenyl isocyanate, phosphorus pentoxide) was studied. The presence of one free hydroxyl group at C-4 atom as well as the possibility of existence of hydroxylamino tautomer of the title compound with alpha-D configuration are responsible for the formation of different products depending on dehydrating agent and the reaction conditions used. The isolated compounds were characterized by the NMR and mass spectral data.
