Abstract:

Betti bases have gained significant importance in medicinal chemistry as they exhibit a wide range of pharmacological applications such as anti-tumor, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-tubercular activities. Moreover, they are of great synthetic utility owing to their usage as catalysts and as ligands in asymmetric synthesis. Due to their innumerable uses, various scientists have been continuously devising enormous methodologies, using a range of catalysts and modified reaction conditions for the synthesis of Betti bases. This review article focuses on efficient and novel facile synthetic protocols for their synthesis that have been utilized by various research groups since 2017.
