Abstract:

Abstract

In this work, a successful method for preparing TiO2/graphene nanostructures is presented by combining the hydrothermal method with the Nd-YAG laser. The results of XRD confirmed the presence of the anatase phase of TiO2 and the presence of two peaks that belong to graphene. FESEM results indicate the presence of nanostructures like “nanosheets” with clusters of nanoparticles. In high agreement with the XRD results, EDS results confirmed the presence of energy peaks for all selected elements. The zeta potential results confirm that the sample colloids have a negative electrical charge on their surface, with a zeta potential of around (– 16.7) mV. The anti-bacteria results indicate the ability of the TiO2/graphene nanostructure to highly inhibit Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria with inhibition zones of 36 and 29 mm, respectively.
